Founders

Dr. Lopez earned an Ed. D, from National Louis University in Chicago. Doctoral studies; Latinas in Higher Education; in collaboration, designed a performance to show the findings of the research in a theatrical format. She received her Master’s degree in Social work at University of Illinois at Chicago. Concentration in Children and Families.  She has experience working with children, families, individuals, couples and youth counseling.  Dr. Lopez is engaged in community education on women empowerment, early childhood education, substance abuse and domestic violence. Dr. Lopez co-founded Latina Child Care Providers In Action, LCCPIA in 1998; a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster economic development in the Latina community.

Marisela Melecio, Licensed Child Care Provider for 18 years in Chicago, IL.  Marisela holds an Associates Early Child Degree. She has over 30 years experience working with children and families.  Children love her program and become part of her family.

Luz N. Lopez, licensed child care provider in Cicero IL. Ms. Lopez has extensive trainings in the area of Early Child Education. Currently, she holds a Child Development Associates (CDA). She is certified in CPR & FA, has over 240 hours of early childhood education.  She serves as secretary for Latina Child Care Providers In Action (LCCPIA), a nonprofit association whose mission is to improve the quality of childcare and foster economic development and self-deficiency in the Latino community.  Furthermore, she is an active member of the Austin Childcare Providers Network in Chicago IL., where she led a cohort of Latinas child care providers and provides them with translation for mandated materials, in order for them to achieve their goals.  Ms. Lopez is presently continuing education to earn an Associates in Early Childhood. In 2016, she completed a Teacher’s Aide certification. Ms. Lopez believes “empowering childcare providers and uniting with parents is a strong venue towards a holistic child development approach”.
